Osaris and the Damned:Book 1
Prologue
The story that is about to be told, is a story of a boy, a boy on a quest to save his close friends, family, and his city. One morning, on the Island of Haven, lays a boy. His name is Vex. Vex is a tall boy, dark brown hair, bright green eyes, tan colored skin, with long pointy ears, kind of like an elf. But Vex is no elf. He is a brave, fighter and warrior. He and his ancestors were all blessed with the power of advance fighting. He has been training to become an ultimate fighter, ever since he was just a little kid. Now on the other hand, Haven is just your ordinary, everyday island. If your island was never day or night, but as if it was in between, like twilight. But otherwise, just an island, with cliffs, shacks, and a beach with a nice view of the crystal blue ocean. Osaris is the city to the north of Haven. The city is at war with the Damned. The Damned are an evil race, bent on taking over the planet. There are really no definite descriptions of these, since there is always new ones. There evil leader, is Shadowbane. Thrown out of the city, he has forced an attack on the people of Osaris. There men are just barely holding back the Damned. Vex must help the city fight this evil, and return peace to the world they once knew.
Chapter 1
“Man, I sure am hungry, I’ve been training for hours, maybe grandpa has made something to eat,” said Vex, holding his empty stomach, as he walked to his house.
“Grandpa, I’m home, I have a question to ask you”
“What is it Vex, I was trying to sleep,” his grandpa said.
His grandpa was a short man, gray hair, with long pointy ears.
“I was wondering…” Vex said weirdly, as if he were trying to say something else.
“I was wondering if you would let me join the fight against Shadowbane?” Vex said.
” So, you think you are ready?,” his grandpa asked.
“Yes, I mean after all, we are the only fighters in the land with the immense knowledge of fighting,” Vex said, making a very strong point to his grandpa.
“You make a very good point Vex, but just to make sure, meet me at the beach in exactly one hour, no less, no later,” his grandfather said, as he walked out of there living room.
“I wonder what that was all about,” Vex thought to himself for a few minutes, trying to figure this out. “It was probably nothing, oh well, better start heading to the beach”.
Vex started walking to the beach. It wasn’t that far away, but it was still a long walk. He had to start from the top of the cliff, down three bridges, and through the village. Their house, of course, was on the highest cliff on the island. He had the beach in his sight, so he started running. Faster and faster until he finally reached it. Once there, he noticed his grandpa wasn’t there yet.
“Hmmmm, must be early, no sweat, now I get to lay down and relax until he gets here,” he thought to himself. The moment Vex had layed down, his grandpa had shown up.
“Hello my grandson, are you ready to be put to the test,” his grandpa said abruptly.
“Wait, what test?,” Vex said.
“The test that your great-grandfather gave to me, and the one I gave to your father, before he passed away.” said grandpa.”This test will prove whether or not your training has proven to be working”.
“For real grandpa, what do I have to do?”
“Spar against me, I might look old, but I have experience in martial arts. Go ahead, swing, don’t worry about hurting me, you wont”.
Vex had swung, and his grandpa doged. He went again, missed, and missed. “What is going on, why cant I hit him?” Vex thought to himself. “Something is weird.”
As the sparring kept going, and going, and finally grandpa took a swing. He knocked Vex into the air, and somehow he teleported up in the air, and elbowed Vex in the stomach, knocking him back on the ground.
“Owwwwwwwch, grandpa what was that about, how did you do that,”Vex was holding his stomach, laying on the ground.
“I cannot be the one to teach you these ways of art, you will find it out on your own, as you travel the world helping out the city, and the world” his grandpa said.
“You,you mean I can go!”
“Yes.”
“Thank you, thank you, thank you grandpa. Trust me. I will not let you down.”
“I know you wont, but before you go, stop by the house, I want to give you something”.
A few moments later , they appeared at the house.
“Here Vex, please take this sword on your journey, I packed all your stuff for you already near the door. Have a safe trip my boy. Don’t forget to check in every once in a while.”
“I wont grandpa, thank you”
There farewell wasn’t a happy one. But they knew it had to be. Once Vex left, he went to the nearest boating dock, hoped on a boat, and sailed north to the city of Osaris. Vex only thought he was joining the war, but what he didn’t know was that once he got off that boat, his future and destiny, was about to unfold…
